Young Danish Photography '24

The exhibition will present works by Danish and international artists who use photography or other time-based media in various ways to examine the phenomenon of memories – materially as well as thematically and culturally – in their practice. Young Danish Photography is a recurring exhibition series at the Fotografisk Center, where, in collaboration with a specially invited guest curator, each year we give some current ideas on the photography of today and present these to a wider audience. In 2024, the exhibition will be curated in collaboration with HEIRLOOM – center for art and archives, which is a new research-based art organization and exhibition venue with a focus on overlooked artistic archives and collections. Stine Hebert and Johanne Løgstrup are behind the organization, which directs special attention to ephemeral work practices with a main focus on art from 1960 onwards, as well as discussions around gender, identity and transnational exchanges. Through new curatorial processes, Heirloom shakes up entrenched notions about the nature, role and importance of the archive. The artists for Young Danish Photography '24 will be selected during 2024.

The exhibition has received support from: Københavns Kommune, Statens Kunstfond, DGI Byen & Augustinus Fonden.
